Story Behind the California Poppy Oil Painting:
While exploring antiques in our old Alpine home, I found this small vintage oval frame full of charm and character. Immediately, it caught my eye, as if it had patiently waited for me to notice it.
Surrounded by alpine meadows and wild poppies near our home, I felt inspired to bring this vintage frame to life.
To boost its vibrancy, I painted the flower in rich orange tones, reminiscent of a California Poppy – bright, warm, and joyful.
Using thick oils and impasto technique, I painted a bold, textured single poppy in bloom, full of vibrant light. It’s a little window into the natural poetry that surrounds me here in the mountains.
